Former South African Skipper Graeme Smith was one of the legends of South African Cricket. Cricketers who have captained in the most Tests, the name that comes out on top is Graeme Smith. Smith is the only player to have captained in over 100 Tests. Smith is the only cricketer in the history of Test cricket to captain a team in 100 or more Tests.

In 108 Tests as a captain of South Africa, he was victorious in 53 Tests, lost 28 and the remaining 27 Tests were draws. He tasted success in the ODI format too as a leader and led South Africa to victory in 92 of 149 ODIs. The former South African skipper had incredible numbers as an opener in Test cricket as well as ODI cricket. In his 205 Test innings, Smith scored 9265 runs. His average was 47.76 with 27 centuries. He scored 5 double-hundreds too.

He scored 6989 runs in 194 innings in ODIs too at an average of 37.78 with 10 centuries. At the age of just 22, Smith was given the captaincy of the South African team. When he led his country for the first time in Tests, he was the third youngest Test captain ever at the time.
