Manchester United have not been having the best of times at present. They had frosty relations with Cristiano Ronaldo which led to a tussle between him and the top brass of Manchester United. It also led to the termination of his contract and a premature exit from the club on his second stint.

And, now United have introduced a new rule post his exit.

According to reports, United have plans to introduce a wage limit of £200,000 a week to prevent players from earning significantly higher sums of money than their teammates. They are mulling this decision after Ronaldo, who was making £500,000 a week, put an end to his contract as he had issues with Eric ten Hag and also with the top bosses of  United.

As per the Daily Mail, the Dutchman, the chief executive Richard Arnold has decided to reportedly take this step of having a wage ceiling to bring an end to the culture of “dressing room jealousy” by implementing a wage cap in place.

The rule is set to impact players like Marcus Rashford and Fernandes

The new rule, if it comes into effect, is likely to impact several players. This includes the likes of David de Gea, who will be affected immensely as he is entitled to £ 375,000 a week. Experienced players such as Raphael Varane, Harry Maguire, Casemiro and now Fernandes are all in the same pay bracket (£180,000 to £200,000 a week).

The rationale behind this rule is that more players can be paid at the top level rather than splurging big sums on the big names. One more person who could have a knee-jerk effect from this rule is Marcus Rashford.

The cream of the Premier League will be keeping a hot trail on him as at present. He has signed a one-year contract extension with United. His contract will lapse in 2024. It is not confirmed whether he will continue to stay at United or switch bases. The Red Devils have not had the best of times at the Premier League and have had bad recent form.
