Pakistan Cricket Team came into the Asia Cup 2023 tournament as the favourites. Babar Azam and his men had become the number 1 side in ODI Cricket. The team made a good start by winning the opening game against Nepal by 238 runs. Babar Azam had scored 151 as the bowlers were firing on all cylinders.

Things took a turn for the worse once the Super-Four Stage started. After an easy win over Bangladesh, the Pakistan team lost to India and Sri Lanka. The last-ball loss to the defending champions meant Pakistan had made an exit from the tournament.

Rift in Pakistan dressing room after Asia Cup exit?

The losses to India and Sri Lanka seemed to have had an adverse effect on the morale of Pakistan players. There seems to have been a major fallout since their exit from the Asia Cup.

BOLNEWS, which is based out of Karachi, has come out with a report about the entire drama. Post the narrow loss to Sri Lanka, Babar Azam got into a verbal tiff with his teammates. This did not go down well with Shaheen Shah Afridi their lead pace bowler.

The left-arm seam bowler asked his captain to appreciate the efforts. Afridi also said Babar Azam appreciated the efforts that were being put in by the players. Babar Azam had apparently said that he was well aware of what was happening as he was the best judge as the captain.

This did not go down well with a lot of the players especially the senior bunch of the team. Before things could get out of hand, wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan stepped in and calmed down the situation.

The Pakistani team had seen one such incident while the game against India was still being played. Chasing 338 to win, Pakistan had lost wickets and were in dire straits when the rain came down. It was reported that there was a disagreement with then-skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed while the team was in the dressing room during the rain break.

Pakistan had lost to India during the Asia Cup 2023 tournament by a massive 228 runs. The biggest in the history of India-Pakistan matches. The Pakistan team now has a few weeks off before they visit India for the ODI World Cup.
