The third T20I between India and West Indies resulted in the Men in Blue registering a 6-wicket win. Suryakumar Yadav hit a splendid knock of 83 off 44 balls with 10 fours and four sixes. Tilak Varma cracked an unbeaten 49 off 37 balls with four fours and one six. Though Tilak played a sublime innings, he was not allowed to finish the match and get to his fifty as Hardik Pandya hit the winning run with a six. Fans on X (formerly Twitter) called Hardik a very selfish captain for this act.

The fans then compared what Hardik did to Varma to how MS Dhoni allowed Virat Kohli to finish off the match in the T20 World Cup 2014 semi-final against South Africa in Bangladesh. Dhoni blocked the last ball of the 19th over to ensure that Kohli has a chance of hitting the winning runs for India in the game against South Africa. Kohli duly hit a four off the first ball in the 20th over. Fans hailed the former Indian captain for his gesture and called Hardik a very arrogant captain for what he did. The thinking of the fans was that since Varma had a chance to complete a milestone, he should have been allowed to.

Hardik Pandya finished the game off with a six for India at Guyana in the third T20I

On the other hand, some fans said that Pandya was well within his rights to finish the game as he found a loose ball and deposited it into the stands. They said cricket is not a game of individual milestones but it is a team sport. India finally opened their account at Guyana in the third T20I after losing the first two. India now have to win the fourth T2oI at Lauderhill, Florida, to take it to the decider at the same venue.

Kuldeep Yadav was the best bowler for India as he took 3-28 in his spell of four overs. The left-arm wrist spinner’s spell broke the back of the West Indies middle order and kept them down to just 159-6 in their 20 overs. Suryakumar was awarded the player of the match at Guyana. The T20 World Cup 2024 will be held in West Indies and USA.
