Shubman Gill has been struggling with his form in the ODI’s against West Indies so far. Gill has scored 45 runs in two innings in the three-match ODI series with one game to go. In the first innings of the second ODI at Barbados, Gill made 34 off 48 balls with five fours. The 23-year-old was dismissed by Gudakesh Montie when he tried to hit the spinner out of the ground. Amidst all the struggle, Gill went past Babar Azam to score the most runs in ODIs after the first 26 innings.

Gill has made 1352 runs at an average of 61.45 and a strike rate of 104.88. Gill has hit five fifties and four centuries. The man from Punjab recently became the fifth Indian to score a double ton in ODIs.  When it comes to Babar Azam in the 50-over format, he has hit 5089 runs in 100 games at an average of 59.17 and a strike rate of 89.24. The Pakistan skipper has scored 26 half-centuries and 18 centuries. The two will also face off against each other in the Asia Cup in August.

West Indies won the second ODI at Barbados by six wickets and levelled the series 1-1

Team India did not have a very good outing in the second ODI as the Men in Blue succumbed to some very accurate bowling from the Men in Maroon. Montie and Romario Shepherd picked up three scalps each in their respective spells. The bowlers took wickets at regular intervals which meant that Indian batters were starved of rhythm and runs. Alzarri Joseph also complimented the bowling lineup with 2-35 in his seven overs spell.

India collapsed to 181 in 40.5 overs.  In the second innings, West Indies were provided a good start by Kyle Mayers who made 36 off 28 balls with four fours and two sixes. When Mayers fell, Brandon King and Alick Athanaze followed him back to the pavilion shortly. India thought they could get back into the game at 91-4, but skipper Shai Hope made an unbeaten 63 off 80 balls with two fours and two sixes.

Keacy Carty also provided great assistance as he made 48 off 65 balls with four fours. This meant that West Indies got the runs in 36.4 overs. The series was also levelled 1-1. The decider will be played at Trinidad with the two teams having all to play for. The West Indies were swept away in the World Cup qualifiers in Zimbabwe recently.
