The Lucknow Super Giants have seen several highs and lows during the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League in 2023. Lucknow has played twelve matches in the competition so far, winning six and losing five, and one game ending in a tie. Despite having many positives to highlight, the injury of great Indian batsman KL Rahul during the current tournament has been one of the biggest drawbacks for the team.

On May 1, during Lucknow’s game against Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rahul suffered a right thigh injury. Rahul sustained an injury and was therefore ruled out for the remainder of the competition as well as the forthcoming Test Championship final against Australia

Rahul posted the photo as he was seen on clutches navigating the city streets along with the caption, “Out and About”. In a recent message, he also mentioned that he had gone through a successful operation and was now on the path to recovery.

Following his injury, he had also taken to social media to update the Indian Team as well as the Lucknow Super Giants supporters about his injury. He said, “Absolutely gutted that I won’t be at the Oval next month with Team India. I’ll do everything I can to get back in the blue and help my country. That has always been my focus and priority. After careful consideration and consultation with the medical team, it’s been concluded that I’ll be undergoing surgery on my thigh shortly. My focus will be on my rehabilitation and recovery in the coming weeks. It’s a tough call to make, but I know it’s the right one to ensure a full recovery.”

Following KL Rahul’s injury, Ishan Kishan has been selected as the Indian team’s backup wicketkeeper for the forthcoming World Test Championship final. The selectors have added Kishan, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Mukesh Kumar, and Suryakumar Yadav as reserves for the highly anticipated match that will start on June 7 in London.
