Star South African batter Quinton de Kock continues his dream run in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023. After smashing a match-winning century against Sri Lanka, De Kock smashed another century against Australia. In their second game at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee International Stadium in Lucknow, De Kock scored 109 runs off 106 balls with the help of eight fours and five sixes.

He, along with Temba Bavuma, added 108 runs for the first wicket. Bavuma, in his innings, scored 35 runs off 55 balls with the help of two boundaries. However, before getting dismissed by Glenn Maxwell, De Kock broke some unique records. De Kock became the second South African wicketkeeper-batter to score two centuries in the World Cup after AB de Villiers.

This was his third World Cup century, and he set the record for the second-most centuries for South Africa. It’s worth noting that in the first game against Sri Lanka, De Kock scored 100 runs off 84 balls with 12 fours and three sixes. His match-winning knock helped South Africa beat Sri Lanka by 102 runs at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Quinton de Kock is set to retire from ODI Cricket!

It’s worth noting that this is De Kock’s last ODI World Cup. The 30-year-old wicketkeeper-batter has announced his retirement from ODI cricket. De Kock revealed that he will continue playing in T20 leagues. “T20 events—I am not going to deny that there is a lot of money, and coming to the end of your career, guys want to get their final top-up before their career finishes. Any normal person would do it anyway,” said De Kock after announcing his retirement.

It’s worth noting that Lucknow is De Kock’s home ground in the Indian Premier League. He is a key member of the Lucknow Super Giants and has been phenomenal with the bat. However, the South African team will look to continue their dominance with the bat and outplay Australia in the crucial game.
