In just a week the second season of the Women’s Premier League is set to begin. The tournament which began in 2023 saw massive crowds throng the stands. Mumbai Indians led by Harmanpreet Kaur won the title in the first season.

Delhi Capitals were the runners-up after being led by former Australian legend Meg Lanning. This year the tournament is set to be bigger and better as some of the biggest players will make their presence felt.

Smriti Mandhana and her Royal Challengers Bangalore side didn’t have a great 2023 season. This year the Bangalore side will look to improve their record from the previous edition of the tournament.

The Women’s Premier League saw the first edition being played in 2023. Mumbai Indians won the first title after beating Delhi Capitals in the finals. The finale was played at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.

How many Teams are taking part?

A total of five teams are taking part in the 2024 edition of the Women’s Premier League. Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals will be joined by Royal Challengers Bangalore, Gujarat Giants, and UP Warriorz.

How many matches will be played in the group phase?

Twenty matches will be played during the group phase of the tournament. The matches are set to be played in the home and the away format. Each team will be playing a total of 8 matches during the season.

What is the format for the playoffs?

The top-placed team will directly qualify for the finals of the tournament. The teams that are placed at the number two and three will play in the eliminator game. The team winning the eliminator game will qualify for the finals.

Which are the venues of the tournament?

The first edition of the tournament was held in Mumbai. This time the tournament is set to be held in Bangalore and New Delhi. Arun Jaitley Stadium and M Chinnaswamy Stadium will be hosting the games. The final of the tournament will be held in New Delhi.
