The famous hotel chain OYO Rooms said in a statement on Friday that it will increase its fleet by adding 500 new hotels over the next three months. This will be carried out in cities across India hosting the ODI World Cup 2023.

For international supporters travelling to India to watch their favourite teams in action, new hotels close to stadiums will provide convenient housing.

β€œTravel demand automatically goes up whenever the dates for a marquee cricket tournament are announced, “OYO will add 500 hotels in host cities in the next three months to meet the demand for the Cricket World Cup. We want to ensure that everyone who is travelling from far away to watch their favourite teams has access to comfortable and affordable accommodation,” the spokesperson added.

The final of the 2023 World Cup will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad

Prior to the ODI World Cup, which will be contested in India for the first time since 2011, accommodation rates in the host cities have started to soar. In contrast to 2011, when Bangladesh and Sri Lanka shared hosting duties, India will serve as the official host nation for the event this year.

The competition will start on October 5 and last through November 19. Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Delhi, Dharamsala, Chennai, Lucknow, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Pune will all host games. The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will host the championship game.

On another note, Make My Trip the online aggregator has come up with a program wherein it has asked fans in the home cities to list their properties on its platform to cater to the massive increase in search of homestays which are present in the host cities for the World Cup. Β “A large proportion of homestay properties in cricket centres across October and November is still available for cricket lovers at an economical price,” Make my Trip Chief Business Officer Parakshit Choudhury said.
