In what turned out to be another upset in the 20-20 World Cup 2022, Pakistan suffered a shocking defeat by one run in the hands of Zimbabwe on October 27, Thursday. The pace bowlers of Zimbabwe rallied together and defended a 131-run target.

Talking about the loss, Mohammad Amir who has represented the Men in Green in all formats has let out a scathing statement to Ramiz Raja, the chief of the Pakistan Cricket Board, and Mohammad Wasim, the Pakistan chief selector following the loss against Zimbabwe.

I had already said poor selection calls were made- Mohammad Amir

In a tweet, this is what he had to say, “From day one I said poor selection ab is cheez ki responsibility kon le ga I think it’s time to get rid of so called chairman jo PCB ka khuda bana hua hai and so called chief selector. (From day one, I said it’s a poor selection. Who will take the responsibility? I think it’s time to get rid of the so-called PCB chairman who thinks he is the god, as well as the so-called chief selector),” Amir wrote.

Here is the tweet

When the Pakistan squad for the 20-20 World Cup was announced, Amir made a strong comment concerning the selection of the squad saying, “cheap selector ka cheap selection” remark. The former fast bowler expressed his displeasure over the selection calls made in the 15 Member squad.

With no wins so far, they are in fifth position in the points table in Group B Pakistan are ahead of Netherlands due to a superior net run rate. With the middle order not able to find its feet, Pakistan have been found wanting with the bat in this tournament.

Pakistan are in a precarious position concerning their chances in the 20-20 World Cup. They have to win their remaining matches by a big margin to boost their net run rate and also need several results to go their way to boost their qualification chances.

The Zimbabwe fast bowlers utilized the conditions to their advantage and made Pakistan players sweat for every run-in pursuit of the target. Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan were dismissed early which triggered a middle-order collapse for the Men in Green.
