On 23 December 2022, all franchises of the Indian T20 League took part in the mini-auction for the next edition. All eyes were on those teams as all of them were looking to add more firepower to them ahead of the next season. On 15 November, those teams submitted their final list of retained and released players.

Ben Stokes was one of the top names whom franchises were looking to buy. His base price was INR 2 Crores. As expected, many franchises like Rajasthan, Bangalore, Lucknow, Hyderabad, and Chennai got involved in a bidding war. Finally, Chennai bought him for a whopping amount of 16.25 Crores for the next season. However, after that, the Rajasthan franchise came up with a cheeky tweet for the Chennai franchise.

Here is the tweet:

Speaking of the tweet, the Rajasthan franchise shared a picture, a collage of Ravindra Jadeja, Ben Stokes, and Shane Watson. All these all-rounders played for them and ended up donning the Chennai kit afterward. They shared the image with a caption: “RR all-rounders (handshake) CSK. Speaking of Ben Stokes, he was in great form with the bat for England in the 20-20 World Cup winning campaign for England. In the final against Pakistan, he scored 52* runs off 49 balls, including five fours and one six.

In the last group-stage game against Sri Lanka, he scored a vital 42* run and helped England to get qualified for the semi-final. Due to his game-finishing abilities with the bat, Ben Stokes will be now a vital option for MS Dhoni. Stokes has played 43 T20Is so far for England. In those matches, he managed to score 585 runs in 36 innings, at an average of 21.66. While he also took 26 wickets in the same number of innings. He was instrumental in winning both the 50-over World Cup and the 20-20 World Cup for England in 2019 and 2022 respectively.
