The 1st Semi-final of the Road Safety World Series took place between India Legends and Australia Legends at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur. The toss was won by the India Legends, they opted to bowl first. The Australians were provided with a great start with Shane Watson and Alex Doolan going all guns blazing. The former scored a quickfire 30 from 21 balls, with six fours, while the latter scored 35 from 31 balls, with 5 boundaries.
They both were dismissed by Rahul Sharma and Yusuf Pathan, respectively. But by that time, Australia Legends had taken the score to 60. Ben Dunk came to the party and contributed with a well-made 46 from just 26 balls, with 5 fours and 2 sixes. Then there was a mini-collapse, with Abhimanyu Mithun picking up the wickets of Ben Dunk and Nathan Reardon. Callum Ferguson was also dismissed by Yusuf Pathan.
At 136- 5, the game was stopped due to rain on the 28th and it was continued on the 29th at 3:30 pm IST. The Australia Legends needed a big partnership at the end to be in the game and that was provided by Brad Haddin and Cameron White. They scored some big hits towards the end as they scored 12 from 8 balls and 30 from 18 balls, respectively, with 1 four and 3 sixes hit between them. This propelled Australia to a big total of 171-5 in their 20 overs.
In the second innings, India Legends was provided with a solid start by Naman Ojha, who took control of the innings from one end. He scored a match-winning 90 not out from 62 balls, with 7 fours and 5 sixes. There were small cameos from Tendulkar, Raina, and Yuvraj but none of them could convert their starts. Stuart Binny and Yusuf Pathan were out cheaply to McGain and Shane Watson. At 125-5, the India Legends looked dead and buried.
But, Irfan Pathan played a superb knock to get them out of trouble. He smashed 37 from just 12 balls, with 2 fours and 4 sixes. He was particularly severe on Dirk Nannes as he plundered him for 19 runs in his last over, which gave India Legends a big win by 5 wickets and allowed them to reach the target of 171 in the 19th over. This was a superb win for the India Legends.
