Odisha FC have had a good campaign in the Indian Super League (ISL) so far as they have won 7 matches and lost 5 with 22 points in their kitty. Talking about the encounters going forward, Odisha FC coach Josep Gombau gave an indication that for the club, every match is like a final from here on. He said the goal of the club would be to get to the final but a win against Bengaluru FC would do the team’s confidence a world of good.

When it comes to Bengaluru FC, they have some form coming into this game as they won their last fixture against Northeast United FC 2-1. The match between the two sides will be played at the Kanteerava Stadium. As this match is a vital game for Bengaluru FC, they will hope that they end up on the winning side just like last year when the two sides clashed together in 2020, Bengaluru FC won that game.

We have to try to press the opposition – Josep Gombau

The coach opines that if Odisha approaches the game with the right mindset, then they will have a favourable result. “I think every game is totally different. For sure, Bengaluru FC have a very good squad and they are playing at home with their fans but every single game in the league is very equal, so we will have our moments, where we can damage them and get a good result. It is very important and this is the mentality of the team to go there and to approach them in the way that we do in every single game,” He said at the pre match press conference.

“This is our aim to go over there and play a good game by playing our football and alsWeo have our mentality inside the pitch trying to press the opposition team. We are concentrated and we are working well in the training sessions. We can play a good game there,” He also talked about Nandhakumar Sekar who has been a revelation this season. He has scored five goals in twelve matches this season.

“Nandhakumar (Sekar) will be key in the way that we play. Our wingers are always involved in attacking moments. Nandha is a very important player for us, already an experienced guy. We are so happy with his performance and I think in Saturday’s game. He will have a big role,”  Josep Gombau said that he wanted his team to make the playoffs and it is as of now, the first goal of Odisha FC.
