Former India captain Virat Kohli is currently on a break as senior players have been rested from the ongoing five-match T20I series against West Indies. Kohli’s next appearance on the cricket field will be in the Asia Cup 2023 starting on August 30. Meanwhile, during a brief interaction with a fan, the ace cricketer accidentally revealed that he will fly on August 23 to join the Indian camp as part of the Asia Cup 2023 preparations.
Kohli enjoys a massive fan following across the globe thanks to his on-field heroics in all formats of the game over the years. While he is often aggressive on the ground due to his passion and spirit of the game, the 34-year-old is light-hearted off the field and engages in witty conversations with teammates and fans. Kohli is not new to fans hounding him in public places for a glimpse and a selfie. In a similar incident, Kohli was asked for a selfie by one of his huge admirers at the Mumbai airport parking lot.
The No. 3 batter was about to get into the car with his wife and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma when a fan ran up to him asking for a selfie. The cricketer seemed in a hurry, so he politely responded by promising to provide a selfie the next time when he travels on August 23. “23 Tarik Ko Jaa Raha Hun,” Kohli was heard saying in a video clip that went viral on social media on Saturday, August 12.
As Kohli said in the video he will travel to Bangalore on August 23 and join the rest of the squad to prepare for the continental tournament. India will kick off their campaign with a high-profile clash against arch-rivals Pakistan on September 2. It was during the last Asia Cup in 2022 Kohli regained his form after a nearly three-year slump with a century against Afghanistan.
The right-hander then continued his form and smashed centuries in all formats of the game. With India currently struggling to sort their middle-order issues, the Men in Blue will want Kohli to be in top form in the Asia Cup and the upcoming ODI World Cup.
