Pressure on Shubman Gill to find form

Despite a slow start to the World Cup, with just 104 runs in four innings, Shubman Gill will be eager to prove himself against Sri Lanka tomorrow at the Wankhede Stadium. He is one of the best ODI batters in the world right now, and he will be determined to perform at his best on the biggest stage. Fans are also hoping for a big score from Gill, as the semi-finals are now approaching.

India though, have won all six of their matches so far and are firm favourites to break their trophy drought. India’s were not challenged much in their first four games as they notched up convincing wins against the likes of Australia, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh. However, even when their backs were against the wall in the games against New Zealand and England, the players stepped up to take the team across the line. This is precisely why India has earned the status of favourites.

Following the game against Sri Lanka, India will face the Proteas at the Eden Gardens on Sunday before heading to Bengaluru for their final game against the Netherlands. India is expected the group stage on top of the points table and will return to play at the Wankhede Stadium if that is the case.
