A heated exchange between Ambati Rayudu and Sheldon Jackson took place during a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Elite Group D match between Saurashtra and Baroda on Wednesday.

Turning up for Saurashtra, Jackson was batting in the middle, and in the ninth over of the game, things turned ugly between Rayudu and Jackson. In a video that has been doing the rounds on social media, Jackson could be seen marching towards Ambati Rayudu, who was fielding at the cover position. Apparently, Rayudu made some remarks at Jackson, which triggered him, leading up to a heated exchange between the two. You can watch the video here:

Earlier in the game, Baroda scored 175 runs in 20 overs after being invited to bat first. Mitesh Patel starred with the bat as he smacked 60 runs in just 35 deliveries. Vishnu Solanki also made a valuable contribution of 51 runs in 33 deliveries. Veteran batter, Rayudu, unfortunately, was out for a golden duck by the left-arm seamer Jaydev Unadkat.

Apart from Rayudu and Unadkat, the likes of Cheteshwar Pujara (Saurashtra), Krunal Pandya (Baroda), and Varun Aaron (Baroda) also made their presence felt in the game.

Recently, in August, Sheldon Jackson came down heavily on his Twitter account after being left out of the India ‘A’ squad for the series against New Zealand ‘A’.

“I have a right to believe and dream that if i have performed for 3 continuous season, I may get picked on the basis of my performances not age, tired of hearing this that I’m a good player and performer but I’m old, I’m 35 not 75.” Jackson wrote on his Twitter handle.

Talking about the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Baroda emerged victorious in their first match of the Elite Group D, while Saurashtra’s opening match of the 2022 season against Gujarat couldn’t take place due to rain.
