The first Test will get underway on December 14.

A new era for Pakistan cricket dawns on December 14th as they kick off their 3-Test series against Australia at the iconic Perth Stadium. This series marks the beginning of a new chapter for the team under the leadership of newly appointed captain Shan Masood. Masood, 34, was elected to the position following Babar Azam‘s decision to step down as captain across all formats.

Having been whitewashed on their last few visits to Australia, Pakistan has been facing an uphill battle against a formidable home team. This series will be a baptism by fire for Masood, where he and his team will need to be give their absolute best to even compete against the likes of Pat Cummins, Steve Smith, and David Warner.

Pakistan is currently fine-tuning their game for the upcoming Test series against Australia with a dominant display in their 4-day warm-up match against the Prime Minister’s XI. Batting first, the visitors piled up a mammoth 391 runs in the first innings, led by a magnificent double century from the skipper Shan Masood. Masood was in imperious form, smashing his way to an unbeaten 201 runs, peppered with 14 boundaries and a six. This innings is a positive sign for Pakistan ahead of the challenging series against the Aussies. While other batsmen started, they were unable to achieve substantial scores, highlighting the need for greater consistency throughout the batting order.

While Shan Masood’s ton is definitely a good development, concerns over the team’s bowling attack have come up. In response, the PM’s XI have amassed a formidable 341/4, highlighting the need for significant improvement from the Pakistani bowlers. Matt Renshaw, batting for the PM’s XI, has crossed his century and remains unbeaten at the crease. His presence underlines the challenge that are being faced by Pakistan, who desperately need to pick up wickets to gain any momentum ahead of the first Test.

Pakistan concede 7 runs off one delivery

A rather bizarre incident unfolds in the 78th over of the second innings of Pakistan’s warm-up match against the Prime Minister’s XI yesterday. Matt Renshaw, facing Abrar Ahmed, drove the ball towards long-off. The fielder stationed at the position stopped the ball, initially limiting the batters get two runs. However, a misfielding by another fielder allowed Renshaw and his partner to complete a third run. In the ensuing chaos, the ball rolled towards the boundary without any cover in sight, resulting in a further four runs that was awarded.

This bizarre sequence of events led to a staggering seven runs being conceded from a single delivery, leaving everyone surprised. While such occurrences are rare in cricket, it served as a stark reminder for Pakistan that they need to be extra vigilant on the field, especially against a team like Australia.
