The opening match of the Big Bash League Season 12 brought out a great low-scoring match. Melbourne Stars and Sydney Thunder clashed in the curtain raiser event and produced a great low-scoring game.

The game could go down in history as one of the best low-scoring matches in a domestic T20 league. It was however a moment of brilliance from substitute fielder Brody Couch that is going viral on social media.

The 23-year-old bowler added a twist in the tale with his sensational one-handed catch in the dying embers of the game. The catch took place in the first ball of the last over when Couch leapt into the air to pluck the ball from the air in what could be one of the best catches of all time.

As a result of his sensational catch, Couch helped his team dismiss the dangerous-looking Chris Green. The Australian all-rounder was batting on 17 and was looking to increase the pace as he hit Beau Webster to the long-off region with the anticipation of getting a four if not a six.

A vigilant Couch however came in between the ball and the boundary line and shocked the spectators. Earlier in the match, he had already taken a great jiggling catch.

As for the match, Melbourne Stars put 122/8 on the scoreboard batting first. Nick Larkin was the top scorer for the team having made 25 runs in 26 balls. Three bowlers from Thunder took two wickets each to halt the Stars innings to a small total.

In reply, Thunder had a poor start as they lost two wickets at zero runs. Despite the poor start, however, they managed to get over the line. In the end, Thunder won by 1 wicket.
