In India’s historic win against South Africa, there were numerous memorable moments, be it Sanju Samson’s ton or be it Sai Sudharsan’s catch to dismiss Heinrich Klassen. In addition to this, there is one more moment which is catching the eyes of the fans. It was a conversation between Indian skipper KL Rahul and South African all rounder Keshav Maharaj. The incident was captured on the stump mic.

In the second innings, when Maharaj came to bat when South Africa was struggling at 177 for 6 in 33.2 overs. As Maharaj entered the field, the song ‘Ram Siya Ram’ started playing at Boland Park. The Indian wicket keeper, KL Rahul was quick to remark that the same song is played when he walks in to bat. Maharaj acknowledged Rahul’s observation with a smile.

Under Rahul’s captaincy, India secured a convincing 78-run victory against South Africa in Paarl, ultimately winning the three-match ODI series 2-1. With this achievement, KL joined the likes of legendary India skipper, Virat Kohli. He became the second Indian captain to claim an ODI series victory on South Africa soil.

Sanju Samson’s ton helped India secure series win

In the all-important series decider, it was Sanju Samson who stole the show. It was courtesy of his brilliant innings where Samson registered his maiden international century. Samson played a pivotal role in altering the game’s momentum, forming a significant partnership with Tilak Varma. His innings comprised 108 runs off 114 balls, featuring six boundaries and three sixes. Tilak achieved his maiden ODI fifty. Tilak and Samson’s 114-run partnership propelled India to 296/8 in the first innings. This partnership played a pivotal role in steering the team to a competitive position in the match.

In the series decider, India aimed to defend 297 and it was pacer Arshdeep Singh delivered an impressive performance yet again. Arshdeep was the pick of India bowling with a four-wicket haul to disrupt South Africa’s chase. Despite Tony de Zorzi’s notable innings of 81 off 87 balls, following his maiden ODI hundred in the second ODI, he couldn’t steer his side to victory. The Men in Blue successfully bowled out the hosts for 218 runs in 45.5 overs, securing a 2-1 series victory.
