In sports, nothing can beat the feeling of winning against the arch-rivals. Not only players go crazy, the fans also express immense joy on winning, especially against their arch-rivals. Kerala Blasters registered a 3-2 win against Bengaluru FC and it was followed by fans’ epic celebration at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
Bengaluru FC pegged Kerala Blasters back in the 14th minute through Sunil Chettri’s penalty. However, Bengaluru FC’s joy was short-lived as Kerala Blasters found the equalizer in the 25th minute and they went to lead at halftime through Dimitrios Diamantakos’ goal in the 43rd minute.
Apostolos Giannou scored the third goal for the Kochi-based outfit in the 70th minute, making the scoreline 3-1. Though Bengaluru FC pulled one back in the 81st minute, the Yellow Army’s resilient defense helped them to sail over the line.
Bengaluru FC has been a dominant side, over the years, and have always spoiled the party of the Kerala outfit. The Kerala Blasters’ fanbase, Manjappada, were subjected to trolls by the Bengaluru FC fanbase for their immense pride in their team.
Hence, the win for Kerala gave an unparalleled joy to the fans in Kochi. The fans celebrated by forming a chain. They formed the chain by keeping their hands on their shoulders and jumping in the stands. The ecstasy in the stadium was unmatchable.
Kerala Blasters, currently, stands fourth on the points table with 18 points in nine games. Bengaluru FC, on the other hand, are ninth on the table with just seven points. The Kerala outfit has six wins and three losses to their name.
Kerala Blasters will next face Chennaiyin FC in the Indian Super League at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium on 19th December before playing their last game of the year on 26th December at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi.
