West Indies ended Day 2 at Port of Spain in Trinidad with a strong finish on 86-1 after India ended on 438. Kraigg Brathwaite was unbeaten on 37 off 128 balls and Kirk McKenzie was batting on an unbeaten 14 off 25 balls with one four and one six. India ended their innings at 438. While Virat Kohli notched up his 29th Test ton, Ravichandran Ashwin hit a superb 56 off 78 balls with eight fours. Meanwhile, a sweet moment unfolded at the end of play on Day 2.
West Indies wicketkeeper Josh Da Silva’s mother Caroline hugged and kissed Virat Kohli when she met him in Trinidad at the end of the day’s play on Day 2. She held Virat in a tight embrace and was teary-eyed after the little interaction that they had. Da Silva earlier said that his mother is attending the match between India and West Indies to watch Kohli’s batting and not Da Silva. In the interaction, Caroline said, “You are wonderful”, “You have a beautiful wife”.

On a personal front, Virat Kohli amazed the crowd in the West Indies with his marvellous strokeplay and range of shorts as he made his way to 121 off 206 balls with 11 fours. The former India captain notched up his 76th hundred in international cricket when he played his 500th game. The right-handed batter was looking set to make this innings into a double hundred but he got run out when he was trying to take a tight single due to azor-sharp throw by Alzarri Joseph.
Da Silva had a chat with Kohli during Day 1 when he was batting. He was heard saying that his mother would come to the game to watch Virat bat. “My mom called me and told me she’s coming to watch the match for Virat Kohli, I couldn’t believe it,” Joshua said. Virat and Da Silva joked on Day 1 when he asked. Kohli to get his century. Kohli replied to him: “You’re obsessed with my milestones?”. Joshua did not feel weird to say that he definitely wanted Kohli to get the hundred.
