The first semifinal of the Road Safety World series took place between India Legends and Australia Legends at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur. The Australia Legends batted first in what was a two-day game affair. The Australia Legends were at a score 125-5 but ended up on 171-5 due to some good hitting at the end from Cameron White and Brad Haddin.
India Legends needed a good start to overhaul the strong target of 171 and they got just that from Naman Ojha. The right-hander blazed away at the top and formed a great partnership with Sachin Tendulkar to get India Legends underway. Naman Ojha eventually ended up with a match-winning 90 not out from 62 balls, with 7 boundaries and 5 maximums. He was the rock of the India Legends innings and made sure he was there till India Legends aced the chase.
This terrific inning was instrumental in helping India to get a berth in the final of the Road Safety World Series 2022. The chase was not easy going for the India Legends because other than Naman Ojha, the others, including Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvaraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Stuart Binny, and Yusuf Pathan just could not hang in there and were all dismissed quickly.
When Yusuf Pathan fell at 125-5, it seemed that the Australia Legends will run away with the match. But, the Australia Legends encountered Irfan Pathan who got the India Legends out of a tough situation by playing a whirlwind knock of 37 from just 12 deliveries, with 2 fours and 4 massive sixes.
Irfan Pathan went after Dirk Nannes in his last over where he hit him for 19 runs in the over, which included three huge sixes. Nannes was carted all over the park as he gave away 56 runs from his four overs. Irfan Pathan finished the chase for India Legends with a six and there were wild celebrations in the India Legends dugout.
