Jasprit Bumrah has been in sensational form in the ODI World Cup 2023. In 3 matches so far, Bumrah has been the best bowler of the tournament. The right-arm pacer has the most wickets in the tournament. In every match in the tournament so far, Bumrah has claimed at least 2 wickets. Bumrah has been lethal as a bowler. Talking about him, Finch praised the way he has been bowling.
“When Jasprit Bumrah first started, he was predominantly an inswing bowler into the right-handers, with a holding one and a straighter one. I used to always try and open up my front leg to avoid that ball swinging back in. I mean, in one series he got the ball to out swinging non-stop. Bowling the outswinger and then the occasional inswinger,” Finch recalled the threat of Bumrah.
Finch further recalled how the skills of Bumrah were so amazing. “And then you go like ‘Wow, what does my footwork, bat, and pad have to be?’ Because it was so hard to see because of his wrist position. It is so good and just a subtle variation with just in or just away. So, the guy whose arm is everywhere. I think it was really difficult to play against someone like that,” added Finch.

The former Australian captain credited Siraj for leading the Indian attack in Bumrah’s absence. “He is somebody who is amazing. He is one of the best bowlers in the world consistently. He sets the tone well. I know Mohammad Siraj led the attack very well in his absence. But he is matching Bumrah as the main wicket-taker. He is sliding back to the side pretty nicely,” added Finch.
The question was asked to Finch regarding the ways to tackle Bumrah. “What’s your best bet to knock out his threat and form?” asked the interviewer. Aaron funnily replied saying “Retire, like I did” in a funny way, letting everyone know that Bumrah would always be at the batters as a threat.
