Bengaluru cop on Friday stopped one Pakistani in the crowd from chanting ‘Pakistan Zindabad’. This happened during the 18th game of the ODI World Cup 2023 game between Pakistan and Australia. It is an important game for both sides for varying reasons. A win on Friday will solidify Pakistan’s place in the top four of the tournament table. Meanwhile an Australian will take them within reach of the top half of the table.

Babar Azam won the toss and chose to put Australia into bat. The Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru witnessed a good amount of fans turn up to watch the game. Glenn Maxwell and David Warner were cheered for before the start of the game.

Pakistani fan stopped from chanting by local cop –

Pakistani social media figure Momin Saquib put up a short video on his Twitter handle. One cop can be seen asking the fan not to chant Pakistan Zindabad inside the stadium. This caused a huge furore amongst the Pakistani fans on social media.

Many were seemingly asking why they could not chant for their team. This incident caused a lot of debate amongst the fans from both sides. Many Indian fans did not support the chant while a few Indian fans weren’t happy with the cop.

On the field, the Pakistani team had made a good start to the game while chasing 368. Pakistan had created a record by chasing 345 runs set by Sri Lanka in Hyderabad. Abdullah Shafique and Imam Ul Haq gave the Pakistani team a good start with the bat by adding 134 runs for the first wicket.

The introduction of Marcus Stoinis with the ball changed the game for Australia. The 34-year-old first got Shafique out for 64 caught by Glenn Maxwell. This was followed by the wicket of Imam Ul Haq who was caught by Mitchell Starc for 70.

Earlier in the day the 259-run opening wicket stand between David Warner and Mitchell Marsh set the tone. Marsh scored a career-best 121 while David Warner scored 163 runs from 124 balls. This knock helped Australia reach a massive 367/9 from their stipulated 50 overs.

Shaheen Shah Afridi was the star with the ball with figures of 5/54 from his 10 overs. Haris Rauf proved expensive with the ball going for 83 runs from 8 overs despite picking 3 Australian wickets.
