Star India pacer, Arshdeep Singh had a great start in County cricket when he started his stint with Kent earlier this week. He took his first wicket against Surrey when he got Matthew Foakes out in the match against Surrey. Arshdeep scalped two wickets in the first innings and gave away 43 runs in 14.2 overs; however, his moment in the match came in the second innings when he ripped apart the stumps of a dangerous Jamie Smith.
Surrey were chasing a big score of 501 runs. Smith showed what he was made of with the bat as he put together a stroke-filled century which came off just 70 balls. Smith was on 114 when Arshdeep bowled a dream delivery to castle him. He came around the wicket and breached the defenses of the batter in what was an absolute jaffa.

Rahul Dravid inspired me to join Kent – Arshdeep Singh
“Feeling happy and excited to be here, to be a part of such a great franchise. It is a great county with a rich history as I have been told by people back home. It feels like home. It is just colder than home,” Arshdeep said in a video that was put out by the club ahead of the game. Rahul Dravid had a memorable stint at Kent as a player when he played County cricket in England.
“Why Kent? A lot of this goes to Rahul Dravid, he told me about the history of this club and that he represented this club as well. I want to play because of that as well, he has inspired a lot of youngsters back home. This inspired me join Kent as well,” Arshdeep added. Arshdeep has played 20 List A matches in which the left-armer has picked up 21 wickets at an average of 35.19. He plays for Punjab in first class cricket and also in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Arshdeep made his India debut recently and was looked at as a death bowler specialist for India. Another fact was that he was a left-arm pacer and India have not had a left-arm pacer in their bowling attack for a long time. He will be hoping to grasp English conditions and have a good first season.
