WATCH: Aiden Markram’s unbelieve catch to dismiss JJ Smuts

Sunrisers Eastern Cape defeated Durban Super Giants in Qualifier 1 by 56 runs to reach another final of SA20.  Aiden Markram is having an impressive performance with the bat in the SA20 league so far. In SA20 Sunrisers Eastern Cape has lost only two games out of ten matches. In the last game, Sunrisers Easter Cape overcame Paarl Royals by 44 runs to secure their position in the top four.

Sunrisers Eastern Cape won the toss and elected to bat first. They put a score of 157 runs to chase. David Malan scored 63 runs and Aiden Markram scored 30 runs.

In reply, Durban Super Giants managed to score only 106 runs. While chasing the target Durban Super Giants lost two quickly as Tony de Zorzi scored 2 runs and Matthew Breetzke scored 3 runs. In the 3rd over they were 13 for 2 wickets. Quinton de Kock joined JJ Smuts in the middle to chase the target. The last ball of 3rd over Ottniel Baartman bowled a short ball and JJ Smuts mistimed his shot of selection as he was trying to hit over mid-on where Aiden Markram was fielding.

As the ball came towards him Markram moved to his left quickly and jumped in the air to take the catch. As Aiden Markram took the catch in one hand of JJ Smuts he was in the air. The whole stadium went wild as the fans saw Aiden Makram’s aerobatics on the field.

When he was asked about the chance of winning the title of SA20, Markram told the team know how valuable the trophy is for us.

“Yeah, it’ll be huge for me to be honest. Getting it once was obviously incredible last year, so it’s much harder to do it back to back. It’s been really fulfilling, not just for me but for everyone involved. We are pretty motivated to try and get the job done,” Markram said.
