The first T20I between India and West Indies saw the home side winning by just 4 runs in a low-scoring thriller in Trinidad. On a tricky wicket, West Indies posted 149 runs in their 20 overs, thanks to a good knock from Rovman Powell. India could not chase the target and fell short by 4 runs. Jason Holder won the Player of the Match award for his brilliant spell.

India had two players who were capable of wicketkeeping in the match. But the Indian team asked Ishan Kishan to keep wickets and Samson was the fielder in the match. The Jharkhand cricketer kept wickets well throughout the match. In one of the instances, Kishan took a stumping call upstairs for the third umpire to have their say on the dismissal.

The former India opener, Aakash Chopra, was the commentator in the box. The 45-year-old commented on the incident and took an indirect jibe at Kishan. Chopra said “It is very rare that you review a stumping or run-out dismissal. So far, I am seeing the feet on the ground. Ishan, you can come from Ranchi, but your name is not MS Dhoni,” and funnily trolled Kishan.

Ishan Kishan’s reply to Aakash Chopra

Ishan heard what Aakash said on air. It was one such case where the player at the receiving end neither could be quiet, nor speak disrespectfully. The 25-year-old replied to Chopra in a clever way. Kishan said “Ha, fir theek hai. (Then it is okay)” and did not comment anything else. The reply from Kishan was probably unexpected for the commentators and the fans.

Chopra was quick to acknowledge the simple reply from Kishan. The former India player commented “Ishan ne jawaab diya (Ishan replied to me). How sweet Ishan! We love you,” and praised the Indian wicketkeeper. Later, the incident between Chopra and Kishan became viral on social media. the fans shared the video and praised the simplicity of the wicketkeeper. India will play the second T20I of the series against West Indies on 6th August in Guyana.
