India and Pakistan, the two heavyweights clashed on October 23, Sunday at Melbourne Cricket Ground. It was all about Virat Kohli again as the Indian giant scored a fifty and helped team India reach home with 4 wickets to spare.

After losing the toss and being forced to bat first, the Pakistan skipper Babar Azam made his way back to the dressing room for a duck after failing to read Arshdeep Singh’s inswinging delivery.

Mohammad Rizwan too stayed for a very short time in the crease but Shan Masood reached the fifty-run landmark and helped Pakistan stay in the race. Iftikhar Ahmed also scored 51 runs and helped Pakistan put on a total of 159 runs on the board for the loss of 8 wickets. Indian bowlers, who produced an effective start with the ball, failed to restrict the flow of runs in the end.

The Indian giant to the rescue

Concerning India’s chase, KL Rahul did not last long and made his way back after contributing just 4 runs with the bat. Rohit Sharma, who struggled to find his timing, got out for as many runs and put India in trouble.

However, Kohli and Hardik Pandya joined hands in the middle and started to lift India at a steady pace. Making use of the size of the ground in Melbourne, the duo, known for their running abilities, picked up quick doubles and kept India in the hunt. However, it was all about Kohli as the batter kept coming up with the right shots and helped ease the pressure off Pandya. The drama continued till the end and it was endless as India tried to breach the target.

Kohli, on the other hand, kept India in the race and the Men in blue requiring 1 run off the final ball, pulled off a win from the jaws of defeat. However, the man of the moment was Kohli as he produced an incredible comeback after being out of the radar for a while.

The Indian giant remained unbeaten at 82 compiling six fours and four sixes in the majestic innings that helped India win the match off the final ball. Fans, who witnessed the legendary batter reclaim the throne, came up with emotional tweets as they celebrated the emphatic win:
