Virat Kohli and his tryst with cryptic Instagram posts continued as he put out another one on the microblogging site. The post read: “Love is the recognition of our shared being. You are the happiness you seek”, which is a famous quote of an English spiritual teacher Rupert Spira. Kohli has been putting a lot of posts with interesting quotes for quite some time. Kohli has not played cricket for some time now and will not until the start of the West Indies tour on July 12.

It has not been easy going for Kohli as he struggled to find his form at the start of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Though Kohli has been scoring runs in the IPL, he was not at his best. The former India skipper struggled against spin. Even though Kohli got starts, he was not able to convert them into big scores. The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) side also had an up-and-down season as well and missed out on an IPL playoff berth for the first time in three years.

Virat Kohli scored 639 runs in IPL 2023 for Royal Challengers Bangalore

It was only towards the end of the IPL that Kohli found his touch back and scored two hundreds back-to-back. One of the tons came in a winning cause against Sunrisers Hyderabad and one came in a losing cause against the Gujarat Titans. In that game, Kohli’s hundred was clearly overshadowed by Shubman Gill. Kohli ended IPL 2023 with 639 runs in 14 games at an average of 53.25 and at a strike rate of 139.82. He scored six fifties and two hundreds in this IPL.

Kohli also did not have a good outing in the World Test Championship (WTC) final. In two innings against Australia at the Oval, the 34-year-old scored 63 runs. In the second innings, he got out chasing a ball which was very far away from the off-stump. Australia beat India by 209 runs in the encounter. India lost two WTC finals in two cycles of the tournament.
