Virat Kohli fires letter to Indian Cricket Board after tense argument with Gautam Gambhir in IPL 2023

Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir had a heated altercation at the Ekana Stadium during LSG vs RCB IPL 2023 match. Gambhir and Kohli were at each other’s throats and a verbal volley of words were exchanged. In the end, Kohli and Gambhir were fined 100 percent of their match fees. When it came to the match, RCB beat LSG by 18 runs in a low-scoring game. LSG could not chase down the 127-run target which RCB scored.

Kohli also had a spat with Naveen-ul Haq. The duo did not have the best of handshakes. Naveen gripped Kohli’s hand tightly as he somehow managed to shake it off. Later they took the on-field battle to social media. When the Indian Cricket Board fined Kohli and Gambhir for their actions.  The former Indian skipper shot off a fiery letter to the Indian Cricket Board. Kohli told the board his side of the story and stated that he had ‘didn’t say anything wrong’.

The feud between Kohli and Gambhir started at the M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore. Gambhir had made a gesture by putting a finger on his lips and shushed the crowd. When the two sides met for the return fixture at the Ekana Stadium, Kohli did the same. He also asked the Lucknow crowd to be quiet but he also asked them to support RCB. The fans responded to the call as chants of ‘RCB RCB’ surfaced later.

Naveen was also slapped with a 50 percent fine. The Afghan pacer has also had a lot of altercations across various T20 leagues in the past. He had run-ins with the likes of Shahid Afridi and Mohammad Amir in the Lanka Premier League. He had another altercation with D ‘Arcy Short in the Big Bash League. The right armer also had another showdown with Thisara Perrera in the LPL.

Virat Kohli and RCB will play their next match in Delhi on March 6. The game will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. In the reverse fixture, RCB had beaten DC at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium by 23 runs. DC won their last game against Gujarat Titans by five runs.
