Riyan Parag has had a horrible Indian Premier League edition so far. The right-hand batter has scored 58 runs in six IPL matches at a strike rate of 107.40. In the match against the Gujarat Titans, he came in as an impact player and could only make four runs off 6 deliveries. He was dismissed lbw by Rashid Khan. Before the IPL began, Paragg posted a tweet saying, claiming that his inner conscience says he will hit four sixes in a single over in IPL 2023. That has not materialised as he has not been able to live up to his expectations. Rashid was absolutely unplayable as he picked up 3-14 in his four overs. Noor picked up with 2-25 in his three overs. Mohammed Shami gave away 27 runs and picked up a wicket in his four overs. Joshua Little bowled a good spell of 1-24 in his four overs.
RR were bundled out for 118 in 17.5 overs. In the second innings, Wriddhiman Saha gave a good start at the top. He made 41 off 34 balls with five fours. Shubman Gill made an unlikely 36 off 35 balls with six fours. Then Hardik Pandya came in at number three and spanked Adam Zampa for 24 runs in an over and finished the job for his side. Pandya made 39 off 15 balls with three fours and three sixes. GT trounced RR by 9 wickets.
