Kumar Sangakkara, the legendary southpaw from Sri Lanka previously held the record courtesy of his four hundreds in the 2015 edition of the tournament which was held in Australia and New Zealand. What makes his achievement even bigger is the fact that the centuries came in consecutive matches. Bangladesh, England, Australia and Scotland were the teams at the receiving end of Sangakkara’s brilliance. He ended the quadrennial tournament having accumulated 541 runs ending just behind Martin Guptill as the highest run-scorer.
