In the first match of the tri-series Sri Lanka won the toss and invited Zimbabwe to bat first. Coming to bat Zimbabwe could only manage to get 38 runs on the scoreboard as Chaminda Vaas was all over them. In that match, Chaminda Vaas took 8 wickets by giving only 19 runs. 38 runs by Zimbabwe is the lowest ODI total back then.
In the 2003 World Cup Canada broke this score. Canada got all out for 36 runs only against Sri Lanka. Later again Zimbabwe got all out for 35 runs against Sri Lanka. Chaminda Vaas’s 8 wickets for 19 runs is the best bowling figure in ODI by an individual to date.
