The third Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy which is slated to be held at Dharamshala from 1st March to 5th March could be moved out if it is not fit to host a match after a recent makeover. According to Espn Cricinfo, the Indian Cricket Board will take a call on this very soon after a team of experts check the venue.

Venues, where the third Test could be moved to, are Indore, Rajkot, Visakhapatnam and Pune. An inspection was undertaken by the Indian Cricket Board on February 3. Another inspection will be made this weekend and then a final decision will be made. The experts will check things and conclude whether the venue is deemed to withstand the wear and tear of a Test Match.

Dharamshala had last hosted an Ind vs Aus Test match in 2017 under Rahane’s captaincy

The outfield of the venue is sand based and to complement the sand a lot of dense grass cover is required. Dharamshala had hosted a Test match against Australia in 2017, which was the third Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy under the captaincy of Ajinkya Rahane, where Kuldeep Yadav picked up a five-wicket haul to help India win the Test match to take the series 2-1.

The Ground at Dharamshala is one of the most beautiful grounds in the world to watch matches. It has also served as the home ground of the Punjab franchise in the Indian T20 League. The ground is very picturesque and superb to look at and it is a sight to behold whenever matches are played there. Dharamshala had last hosted twin T2I0s against Sri Lanka, which was the last match played last February.

The second Test of the series will be held in Delhi at the Arun Jaitley Stadium and the fourth one will be held at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad. The Border-Gavaskar Trophy has been held in India after a gap of two editions. Australia hosted the Tests in 2018 and 2021, where India won both series in Australia.
