Former India batting great Suresh Raina, on Wednesday, announced his retirement from all formats of the game. The swashbuckling Left-Hander confirmed the development by sharing a post on social media.

“It has been an absolute honour to represent my country & state UP. I would like to announce my retirement from all formats of Cricket. I would like to thank @BCCI, @UPCACricket, @ChennaiIPL, @ShuklaRajiv sir & all my fans for their support and unwavering faith in my abilities,” Raina tweeted.

The swashbuckler is an absolute fan favourite for Chennai in the Indian T20 League and his name will be forever remembered in the hearts of the Chennai fans and supporters.  He is fondly called “Mr IPL” in the Indian T20 League and he has been one of the most fabled run scorers in the star-studded tournament.
Speculations had emerged that Raina might play in the Indian T20 League again as he had posted a video of him getting back into top gear and practising again on his Instagram handle. This post got the fans into a tizzy and there was a lot of love and appreciation for this from the fans across the world.
 Suresh Raina, who was the lynchpin for Chennai for 12 long years, is the fourth-highest run-getter in the history of the Indian T20 League with 5,528 runs in his name from 205 matches. For Chennai alone, he has raked up 4,687 runs.
Raina represented India in 18 Tests, 226 ODIs and 78 T20Is in a long international career, which spanned for 13 years. Raina made 5615 runs from 226 ODIs and 1605 from 78 T20Is for India. Twitter was fully abuzz when the announcement broke out.
