The 18th match of the Hundred competition took place between the Southern Brave and the Manchester Originals. The match was held in Southampton at the Rose Bowl. Southern Brave won the toss and elected to bowl first. The Manchester Originals were out of the blocks quickly. The skipper Jos Butler scored a very good half-century off just 42 deliveries which consisted of 3 boundaries and 5 sixes.

Philip Salt also played a very good inning, while he opened the batting for Manchester, he scored 4 fours and a maximum. This ensured that the Manchester Originals had a good launch pad to go hard at the end and that is what exactly happened.

The man from the Caribbean Andre Russell tore into the bowling attack of Southern Brave and went berserk in the end. He scored a scintillating 64 runs off just 23 balls which consisted of 6 fours and 5 maximums. This gave a solid finish and the Originals finished on a massive 188-3 in their allotted 100 balls.

The bowling scorecard bore a sad reading for the Southern Brave as M Hogan and James Fuller were very expensive in their 20-ball spells, picking up just one wicket between them and giving away 48 runs and 37 runs, respectively.

In the second innings, It was always going to be a tough task for Southern Brave. The Batting was very poor from them as a side and the scorecard told the story. No one got going because of scoreboard pressure and they could not thwart a wonderful collective bowling performance from the Manchester Originals.

George Garton, who is known primarily as a bowler, top scored with the bat making 25 runs which contained 3 fours and 1 six. Barring Quinton De Kock, Ross Whiteley, and James Vince the skipper most of the other batters struggled to get into double figures.

The Originals bowlers were superb with the ball with Paul Walter picking up 3 scalps for 20 runs in his 15-ball spell. The Young South African sensation Tristian Stubbs picked up 2 wickets for just 12 runs in his short 10-ball spell.

Mathew Parkinson also picked up 2 wickets and conceded just 22 runs in his 19-ball spell. This was just a superb all-around performance from the Manchester Originals, who registered a big win over the Southern Brave.
