Welsh Fire and Manchester Originals locked horns in match 16 of The Hundred 2022. Welsh Fire came into the match after losing all of their initial matches. Manchester Originals entered the game as favorites. The Fire’s skipper Josh Cobb won the toss and elected to field first.
The Originals opener got off to a steady start with Philip Salt and Jos Buttler accelerating the innings from the first ball. Philip Salt got off to a flyer against Jake Ball as he smashed three consecutive sixes in the over. The onslaught never looked like stopping as Jos Buttler joined the party at the other end. The Fire bowlers looked clueless against the opening attack and bowlers were all over the pitch. After 20 balls, the Originals were 38 for the loss of no wicket.
The openers zipped past the fifty-run mark in no time for the first wicket and the foundation was set for a huge total. Adam Zampa provided the first breakthrough for the Fire as he picked Salt’s scalp. And then the momentum started shifting towards the Fire as they picked scalps at regular intervals. Wayne Madsen, Andre Russell, Laurie Evans, Tristian Stubbs and Paul Walker got out without reaching the 20-run mark.
The Originals managed to amass 149 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 100 balls. The Fire openers disappointed one and all as the duo returned to the dressing room with only 14 runs on board. Sam Hain, David Miller and Matt Critchley perished for single-digit scores. Skipper, Josh Cobb returned for a golden duck. Dwaine Pretorius and Ben Duckett managed to reach the 25-run mark. However, it was not enough as the Fire succumbed for 102 runs with eleven balls to spare.
With this defeat, Welsh Fire have now lost all of the four matches that they have played this season. On the other hand, the Originals have bagged their first two points of the season. Manchester Originals crunched Welsh Fire by 47 runs. Here’s how Twitter reacted to the exciting match 16 of The Hundred 2022:

Welsh Fire Men appear to be rubbish. Perhaps they might consider picking the odd Welsh player.
