The Men’s Hundred 2023: Harry Brook creates history but his team’s journey ends in tournament

Harry Brook scored a sensational hundred in the 30th match of the Hundred against Welsh Fire. Batting first, the Northern Superchargers were in trouble straightaway. The team found themselves at 10/3 at one stage, and the collapse never stopped till the innings ended. No batter scored more than 15 runs in the lineup apart from Brook. Seven batters scored runs in single digits for the Superchargers.  

After 73 deliveries, the Superchargers were reduced to 92/7. Only Harry Brook batted well for his team. The youngster stayed in the middle and smashed the bowlers for fun. The aggressive batter spared no bowler and hit the ball all over the park. Brook hit some massive sixes and entertained the crowd. In their 100 balls, Superchargers managed to score 158 runs for the loss of 7 wickets.

Out of the 158 runs, Brook himself scored 105 runs. The explosive knock of Brook came in just 42 balls. The 24-year-old scored his hundred in just 40 balls, which is the fastest ton of the season. The second-highest scorer for the Superchargers was Adam Hose, who scored just 15 runs in 12 balls. Extras contributed the third most score to the total of the Superchargers.  

Brook’s knock had 11 fours and 7 huge sixes. The knock of the youngster was praised by everyone. With no support from the other end, Brook singlehandedly managed to help his team get to a respectable total. Chasing the target, Welsh Fire hardly looked troubled. The Welsh batters scored runs pretty comfortably and chased the target with 10 balls to spare.   

Stevie Eskinazi and Joe Clarke took the aggressive approach for the Fire, while Jonny Bairstow dropped anchor during the run chase. In the end, the Welsh Fire won the match by 8 wickets. Despite losing the match, Harry Brook was awarded the Player of the Match for his great batting performance. David Willey was the star with the ball for Welsh, who claimed 2 wickets in 15 balls.
