Pakistan did not get a great result when they played back-to-back Test series at home against England and New Zealand. They lost 3-0 to the Three Lions and escaped with lucky draws against the Kiwis. All the spotlight was on the skipper, Babar Azam, as he was bombarded with questions about his captaincy. He was asked whether he would relinquish captaincy on the back of a poor home record.

Pakistan had also lost the seven-match T20I series to England at home 4-3. After that, they came storming back in the 20-20 World Cup 2022 in Australia after back-to-back defeats against India and Zimbabwe. Then they beat New Zealand in the semis before losing to England in the final.

We are on the same page with players selected for the New Zealand series: Babar Azam

“I think we are having a white ball series now and the Test matches are over. So if you have any questions about this white ball series ask about that,” Babar gave a stern reply to the journalist. “I don’t have to justify myself to anyone. I know how I am doing. My focus is on performing well for Pakistan” Babar said when he was prodded about the same topic yet again.

Babar also said that Pakistan was looking forward to the ODI series against New Zealand and that he was in sync with Shahid Afridi with the team that he selected for the New Zealand series. Babar said that the head coach and he were constantly in touch with the selectors to make plans clear.

“I think we are on the same page that is important. We have our best bowlers back and hopefully we can do well against New Zealand.” “We have followed a particular pattern in white ball cricket and we will want to do that but it is a new experience for some of our players to be playing in the subcontinent conditions and they will have to adapt accordingly during the match.”
