The great stumper-batter MS Dhoni, according to Chennai Super Kings head coach Stephen Fleming, won’t be retiring from professional cricket beyond the current IPL 2023 season. Notably, Dhoni’s retirement has long been one of the most hotly debated subjects in cricket, with many people speculating that this will be his final campaign in the lucrative league.

The 41-year-old, according to the former New Zealand batsman, hasn’t made any mention of it in the CSK locker room. Dhoni, a four-time IPL champion, did, however, make his retirement very subtly known when he said that the supporters might have donned yellow to bid him farewell after the game versus Kolkata Knight Riders in Eden Gardens.

Nevertheless, based on what Fleming has stated concerning MS Dhoni, it will probably have a favourable effect on the fans. The great player and coach stated that the CSK captain has not yet expressed a desire or signal to put up his boots. Dhoni will, therefore, probably continue playing professional cricket beyond the IPL 2023 as well.

Fleming told the Hindustan times, the news everyone was waiting for as he said, “No, he hasn’t indicated anything.”

Yesterday, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, Chennai Super Kings played against Punjab Kings and scored a total of 200 runs, but ultimately lost by four wickets. In the subsequent innings of play, the visiting squad got off to a strong start, spearheaded by Prabhsimran Singh, 22, who hit 42 runs from just 24 deliveries.

Later, Liam Livingstone scored a magnificent 40 runs off only 24 balls, but Punjab was still not in control because Sri Lankan pacer Matheesa Pathirana had a sensational final over. Nevertheless, Jitesh Sharma once more had a significant impact as the stumper-batter scored 21* runs off 10 pitches.

Notably, Punjab Kings were facing a lot of pressure needing three runs on the final delivery to get the away victory, but Zimbabwean Sikandar Raza maintained his composure and pulled off an amazing victory for the Shikhar Dhawan-led team. With that, Punjab currently has ten points and is ranked fifth on the Indian Premier League Points Table, whereas Chennai Super Kings is fourth due to its higher run rate and has ten points after nine matches.
