500 Crore INR is budgeted by the Indian Cricket Board for upgrade of Stadiums.

The 2023 ODI World Cup will be held in India in October. Ahead of the big event, the stadiums which are hosting the matches in the country are getting major upgrades. Recently many of the major stadiums across India were undergoing change in their outfields. The Indian Cricket Board is splurging a lot of money in renovation of these stadiums. In a report by Indian Express they have talked about major changes that will take place in grounds across the country.

According to the report, different stadiums have different needs. For instance, there will be new floodlights and corporate boxes set up at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. When it comes to Lucknow, the pitch will be redone at the Ekana Stadium which will also have a temporary roof erected. When it comes to Delhi the ticketing system will be more streamlined and toilets will undergo renovation. When it comes to Kolkata the dressing rooms will undergo a makeover.

When it comes to the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association. This is what Arun Dhumal a member there said, “We relaid the whole surface of the stadium and we did a makeover of VVIP and hospitality boxes too. We hired the best expert for the relaying process. We wanted to ensure we have good drainage facilities and got grass from abroad. We changed a few seats, painted the stands. There was a leakage problem, we fixed that too,”. “We wanted to ensure that after rain, the game should start as soon as possible.”.

The Indian Cricket Board will hand out grants of 50 Crore to each stadium for putting out better facilities and infrastructure ahead of the tournament. When it comes to the overall betterment of the 10 World Cup venues which are hosting the games, the overall budget from the Indian Cricket Board will be upwards for 500 crore INR. India last hosted the 50 over World Cup in 2011.

When it came to the Mumbai Cricket Association, This is what MCA president Rohit Pawar said, “We will see if we can have a few stands which can be covered, as three-quarters of the stadium doesn’t have a roof. We want to provide basic facilities like clean toilets, good roads and ample parking space. If any seats are in bad shape we will be replacing them. We will see whether the fencing metal is ok, the ticket readers are working or not. Our drainage system is fine, so are the floodlights,”
