2023 witnessed the triumphant return of Virat Kohli, casting aside a brief lull and reigniting his legendary flame. He feasted on runs, carving them like exquisite sculptures with each stroke. His century machine whirred back to life, churning out milestones with the familiar rhythm of a maestro.

Kohli’s year shimmered with brilliance. He plundered 639 runs for RCB in the IPL, playing a pivotal role in their spirited campaign. But it was the ODI World Cup where he truly transcended, amassing a staggering 765 runs. His bat became India’s lodestar, guiding them to the hallowed finals. Records crumbled before him, including the monumental one held by Sachin Tendulkar – the most ODI centuries. This historic feat was etched in the World Cup semi-final against New Zealand, a testament to Kohli’s unyielding spirit.

With the dust settled on 2023’s cricketing landscape, one question burns bright: what lies ahead for the reinvigorated Virat Kohli? His fitness rivals a Spartan’s, promising many more years of dominance. Every record once thought untouchable, shimmers precariously, a potential victim of Kohli’s insatiable hunger for runs.

He can achieve anything he wants: Clive Lloyd

However, it is one particular record that has sparked the interest of fans, ex-players, pundits and the media alike- Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 100 international tons. Kohli has 80 at the moment, 20 less than the great man and so, there is always debate as to whether he can equal or even break Tendulkar’s record.

Speaking on the subject, World Cup-winning captain and one of the greatest to have played the game, Sir Clive Lloyd believes that no bridge is too far for Kohli if he sets his mind and heart to it. Llyod backed his statement by saying that Kohli is still young and his current form is a positive. “I do not know about the period, but he is young enough and I am sure that the way he is playing he can achieve anything he wants to achieve and it would be something to be quite happy to achieve,” Lloyd was quoted as saying by The Times of India.
