Shreyas Iyer set to miss last three Test matches against England due to back and groin injury

India’s star batter Shreyas Iyer is all set to miss the last three Test matches against England due to back and groin injuries. The match will start on February 15, in Rajkot. As per reports, Iyer complained of back stiffness and pain in the groin area while playing forward defence. Also, his equipments are sent back to Mumbai, rather than Rajkot. As the selectors are about to release the squad on Friday, he will most likely miss out on the last three matches.

This is not the first time Iyer has missed out on any series. He has always been prone to injury and hence, has lost a lot of opportunities in the past. Due to the chronic condition, he has also considered surgical options towards regaining fitness. After this, he had a lengthy recovery process and had to miss a lot of cricket.

Moreover, rumours of Virat Kohli missing out on the last three Test matches are surfacing all over the Internet. Earlier, he was unavailable for the last two Test matches India played in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam. One good news for the Indian fans is Ravindra Jadeja’s return and KL Rahul’s return.

Amidst injuries and players missing out, the return of Ishan Kishan to the India squad is still a huge question mark for all the fans. The wicketkeeper-batter had requested a leave from the South Africa series due to mental fatigue. Moreover, he hasn’t made himself available for the selection process yet. Thus, India’s head coach, Rahul Dravid said Ishan will have to play domestic matches before he can be considered for the selection again.

Before the 1st T20 game against Afghanistan, Dravid said, “Ishan requested for a break, which we agreed in South Africa. We supported it. He has not yet made himself available. When he is available, he will play domestic cricket and make himself available for selection.”
