Former legendary Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has come up with a big statement while talking about the Indian squad for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023. He said that ignoring Yuzvendra Chahal from the World Cup squad could be one of the biggest regrets for Team India and Indian team management.

Notably, there has been a lot of around Chahal’s exclusion from the ODI World Cup 2023 squad. Apart from that, he was also in the headlines last year when the selectors picked him in India’s squad for T20 World Cup 2022 but didn’t play him even a single match in the entire tournament given the fact that other leg spinners like England’s Adil Rashid and Pakistan’s Shadab Khan were getting wickets and good performances.

“A leg-spinner is someone who will always take wickets for you.” – Yuvraj Singh on Yuzvendra Chahal

ODI World Cup 2011 winning all-rounder Yuvraj Singh also stressed the same fact that having a leg-spinner in the lineup helps you to pick the wickets in crucial situations.

“Leaving out Yuzvendra Chahal could be a mistake, could be a worry. At least could have kept him in the squad. A leg-spinner is someone who will always take wickets for you. Kuldeep is doing fantastic. But Chahal could have been dangerous on turning tracks and slower wickets. Hardik giving you the balance of a third seamer, you could have picked Yuzvendra Chahal,” said Yuvraj to the Week.

Furthermore, Yuvi also spoke on the importance of Jasprit Bumrah’s comeback for Team India in the ODI World Cup 2023. Apart from that, he also reckoned that the men in blue are in good touch while heading to the home World Cup ahead.

“Jasprit Bumrah coming back is good because there was something missing in that department. I had some concerns before the Asia Cup due to injuries. Winning the Asia Cup does not guarantee that you will win the World Cup. However, it shows that India is in good form,” Yuvraj said.
