‘Sbko pata tha kuch naya batao’ – Fans react as reports of CSK skipper MS Dhoni participating in IPL 2024 surface

Chennai Super Kings skipper MS has been phenomenal throughout the recently concluded Indian Premier League 2023. Dhoni who had server injuries in his knees played the whole tournament almost without a knee. However, there was so much buzz on social media about his plans and his participation in the league in the upcoming years.

Meanwhile, in a recent news report, it has been stated that MS Dhoni is considering participating and playing in the upcoming edition i.e. IPL 2024. CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan said that Dhoni has plenty of time to consider all options till next March. He said, “Actually, he told us immediately after the final is over, he’ll fly to Mumbai, have surgery and go back to Ranchi for rehab. In Mumbai, after Ruturaj’s wedding [on June 4], I visited him. It was a courtesy call. He’s quite comfortable. He said he’ll rest for three weeks and then start his rehab. And as he said, he’s not going to play until January-February. We don’t need to remind him about all that.”

“He knows what to do, how to go about it, so we aren’t going to ask him ‘what are you going to do, how’ etc. He will inform us on his own. Whatever he’s doing, he’ll call first and inform only Mr N Srinivasan, not anyone else. Factually, he’ll be straightforward with him. From him, we’ll get the information that this is what he’s doing. It’s been this way since 2008. That’s how it will continue,” added Viswanathan.

“It will be the best gift for them”, told MS Dhoni winning IPL

After winning his fifth Trophy in the Indian Premier League 2023, MS Dhoni announced that it will be the best time to walk away with the trophy and end his career on high. However, he further added that it will be the best gift for his fans if he continues to play. He said, “Circumstantially if you see, this is the best time to announce my retirement, but the amount of love and affection I have been shown wherever I have been this year, the easy thing would be for me to say ‘Thank you very much’, but the tough thing for me is to work hard for another 9 months and come back and play at least 1 more season of IPL.”

Notably, Dhoni is currently rehabbing in Ranchi in his home. He underwent knee surgery just after the IPL in Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai. Notably, CSK beat GT by 5 wickets in the finals of the Indian Premier League 2023 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. In the rain-affected match, GT scored 214/4 in 20 overs while CSK chased 171 runs in 15 overs to win the game by DLS Method.
