Salman Agha, the up-and-coming Pakistani batter, recently shared a fascinating anecdote about his interaction with Virat Kohli during the 2023 Asia Cup. In an interview with the “Islamabad United Podcast,” This highlighted the mutual respect and sportsmanship shared between the two players despite the fierce India-Pakistan rivalry.

Agha revealed that he messaged Kohli during IPL 2023 when the latter had a fight with Gautam Gambhir. The nature of the message and its content haven’t been publicly disclosed. “I have so much respect for Virat Kohli, I don’t think there is any cricket fan in the world who doesn’t respect him. I texted him, I am not going to tell you the complete details but will just tell you the start. It started with “Virat Bhai”, I texted him when he had a fight with Gautam Gambhir,” he said.

Agha then revealed that Kohli came to know about the message courtesy of Shadab Khan who informed the legend about it during the 2023 Asia Cup.

“I mistakenly told Shadab Khan about texting Virat. You have watched the video of me, Shadab and Virat standing together, actually, at that time, he Shadab had told him Virat that he I texted him. We had a bit of laughter after I told Virat that I texted you this, he then told me he may have missed the message as he receives thousands of messages every day. It was all Shadab’s doing,” said Agha.

IPL to mark Kohli’s return?

Virat Kohli has been absent from the field for the past month due to personal reasons. Kohli’s absence has left a significant void in the batting line-up.
