Alzarri Joseph

RCB raised plenty of eyeballs when they shelled out a huge amount on Alzarri Joseph at the auction table. Recently elevated to West Indies’ vice-captaincy, Joseph looks like a certain starter even though the team have a lot of options in terms of overseas pacers. The West Indian pacer adds pace and firepower to the attack and his ability to swing the ball and take wickets upfront can be game-changing. However, it is in the death that he will need to excel if RCB wishes to stake a claim for the title.

Karn Sharma

Now that they have let Wanindu Hasaranga go, RCB will have to turn to the experienced leg-spinner, Karn Sharma as the lead spinner of the side. A lot of RCB’s success will depend on his returns as spinners will have a huge role to play, especially on a few tracks like Lucknow and Delhi. RCB will hope he can do a good job in the middle overs, a phase which is crucial in modern-day cricket.

Mohammed Siraj

The fiery Indian pacer will spearhead the bowling attack. His pace, swing, and yorker skills make him a threat throughout the innings. Siraj has received a lot of backing from the franchise over the last few years. However, he has had just one good season and the pressure will be mounting on him. Hence, he himself will want to honour the trust that the management has shown in him. With the bowling once again being the team’s weak point, the onus will be on Siraj to lead by example.

Akash Deep

Akash Deep today became the latest Indian to play Test cricket and RCB will be thrilled to see him doing well at the highest level. however, T20 is a different game altogether and Akash hasn’t been too successful at it, at least for now. RCB retained him despite a poor run last year and he will be expected to put up an improved show and complement the likes of Siraj and Joseph.

RCB’s best possible playing XI for IPL 2024: Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis, Rajat Patidar, Glenn Maxwell, Cameron Green, Mahipal Lomror, Dinesh Karthik, Alzarri Joseph, Karn Sharma, Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep
