Belgium attacker Romelu Lukaku is out of the UEFA Nations League games because of an injury as coach Roberto Martinez put forward a squad which consisted of 30 players on Friday. Romelu Lukaku is the highest goal scorer till now for Belgium with most number of goals going to his name.

He is currently loaned to Inter Milan from Chelsea but has not been able to take part and play in football matches for Inter Millan because of an issue with his muscles.

The first game for Belgium will be against Wales which will take place in Brussels on the 22nd of September and then their second match will be against the Netherlands in Amsterdam after a gap of three days in their last international game before the World Cup commences in Qatar. The Dutch are three points ahead of Belgium in Group going into the last two games.

The manager also talked about Romelu Lukaku’s exclusion from the squad. Roberto Martinez stated that the striker is recouping well from his injury and this is the reason why the team don’t want to take a punt on his chances in the World Cup due to the burden of excess workload on his shoulders.

“Romelu is developing, and his recovery is progressing well,” Martinez said at a press conference.

“Probably, he will return to training with Inter within a week. We took a cautious decision. It is better not to take any risk because a relapse ahead of the World Cup would be very tricky.” Romelu Lukaku came back to Inter on loan from Chelsea during the summer. The London-based club has not put forth a clause to make the switch a permanent one and paid €8m for his temporary return to Chelsea football club.
