Indian captain Rohit Sharma shared a special note with his fans as he completed 15 years in international cricket. The 35-year-old batsman thanked everyone who made him the player that he is today. Sharma took to social media and thanked the fans and critics for their love and support throughout his career.

Sharma made his debut way back in 2007 against Ireland in Belfast on June 23. Some of his memorable knocks early in his career came in the inaugural edition of the 20-20 world cup when he scored an unbeaten 50 against South Africa off just 40 balls in a must-win game for India. Rohit’s another crucial knock came against Pakistan in the finals of the same tournament where his quickfire 30 off just 16 balls propelled India to a total of 157 which they successfully defended winning the finals by 5 runs.

The first ODI hundred from Rohit’s bat came in the year 2010 when he scored 114. Sharma scored his second ODI hundred in the very next game against Sri Lanka. Despite having tremendous potential Rohit couldn’t do justice to his talent as he gave below-par performances for the next three years.

Rohit’s career was dramatically transformed when he was asked to open the innings by MS Dhoni. Rohit calls this incident to be his career-defining moment as he piled on runs at the top of the order for the team. He had a decent outing in the champions trophy 2013 and had a hugely successful series against Australia at home where he brought up his first-ever double hundred in ODI cricket. Since then, Rohit has scored 3 double hundreds and got his name on the world’s best limited-overs batsmen list.

“Hello everyone, Today I will be completing 15 years of international cricket since I made my debut for India. What a journey it has been, surely one that I will cherish for the rest of my life.”

“I just want to thank everyone who has been a part of this journey and a special thanks to the people who helped me become the player that I am today. To all the cricket lovers, fans and critics your love and support for the team is what gets us over those hurdles we all inevitably come across. Thanking you, RS,” said the star Indian opener in his message.
