Rohit Sharma has not had a good IPL 2023 so far. The Mumbai Indians skipper has scored 220 runs in 13 matches at an average of 18.33 and a strike rate of 128.65. He has made just one fifty so far in IPL 2023. The runs have not been coming for Rohit. MI, on the other hand, has done well as a team. Their last performance came against Gujarat Titans where they beat them by 27 runs at home.
In a bizarre turn of events, Rohit was spotted bowling before the toss against the Lucknow Super Giants. For those who would have forgotten, the off-spinner has a hat trick in the Indian Premier League which he got for the Deccan Chargers. This happened during the initial years of Rohit’s IPL career. He used to bowl a lot at that time. Rohit had bowled in 2007 20-20 World Cup as well when India emerged champions in South Africa in 2007.

Rohit used to bowl a lot earlier, however, a finger injury has prevented him from bowling. Even in recent times, when the 36-year-old has been bowling the odd over here and there, he has just looked to come and push the ball through instead of actually giving some revolutions on the ball like he used to earlier. MI have won five titles in the IPL. They have been doing very well in the past few games and would look to get their sixth title.
LSG, on the other hand, is coming off a superb run chase against the Sunrisers Hyderabad at home. The trio of Marcus Stoinis, Nicholas Pooran and Prerak Mankad put together some valuable contributions with the bat to ensure that LSG beat SRH in their own backyard. MI had been hit by injuries at the start of the season. Jhye Richardson was ruled out. Jasprit Bumrah had not recovered fully from his back injury at the start of IPL 2023.
The game between MI and LSG should be a good one. As it will be played at the Ekana stadium, one could expect the spinners into the game and also it well might end up being a low-scoring encounter.
